Post Christmas Play

Grammie and Dad-dad have left, so mommy and daddy and the doggies and I are just playing at home and cleaning up after all the Christmas fun.
Don't I look stunning in these glamorous glasses? Aunt Jenny found them in her stocking but se let me play with them. I think they are a very 1980 Elton John kind of cool.

Here I am reading Gran's art magazines. Very interesting!

Denali wearing her Hawkeye jersey in honor of Iowa's Outback Bowl victory!

I sat down at the play table and studied our field guide to winter birds, so I would know what was using the bird feeder outside. Then daddy made a bonnet out of a paper bag for me to wear. How quaint!

`You are fettered,' said Scrooge, trembling.`Tell me why?' `I wear the chain I forged in life,' replied the Ghost. `I made it link by link, and yard by yard; I girded it on of my own free will, and of my own free will I wore it. Is its pattern strange to you?'
- Charles Dickens, A Christmas Carol

"Well, I wonder which song they're gonna play when we go.
I hope it's something quiet and minor and peaceful and slow.
When we float out into the ether, into the Everlasting Arms, I
hope we don't hear Marley's chains we forged in life.'
Cause the chains I been hearing now for most of my life."
-Gaslight Anthem, "That 59 Sound"

Work continues at Lakepointe, and now they are finishing the wiring and plumbing. I want daddy to put in a secret compartment for me right here, so I can hide from monsters.

Soph,
These are wonderful photos- you're so busy and adorable. I love the cool glasses look but the chains may be my favorite. I hope your Dad puts in the secret space- sometime you can hide in it and sometimes you can let your dragons and other friends live in there.

I MISS YOU- Love, Gran

Wow- nice use of the metaphor as we put away the trappings of Christmas past and look forward to the dawn of new and happy Obama days. I love the pictures! Uncle Mike is excited to see you!
Love,
