Dinner, Part 1

Every day in Atlantis, we would get up late, snack in morning on breakfast bars and pancakes. In the afternoon, we would snack on sandwiches and fresh fruit. But no real meals. But when dinner time came, that's when the food rolled in! We got dressed up and visited one of the many local fine dining establishments. It was so cool.
This is a very nice boat. Looks like something a Bond villian might own. It was called the Casino Royale, appropriately enough!

My mommy and daddy are beautiful!

Aunt Joyce and Uncle Kurt look stunning!

What a great family!

Sand!

My trip to Atlantis was the first time I got to touch sand. Sure, I have seen the Pacific Ocean before, but we never went down to the beach. Now that I can walk and express myself more clearly, I was really amazed by the sensation of the granules tickling and massaging my feet. It was really cool how I sink into the soft warm sand- very comforting. Here are some important sandy moments from the Bahamas.
This is it! The very moment I touched sand for the first time. In terms of milestones, it ranks right up there with the first moment I saw snow: http://sophiehouse.blogspot.com/2007/11/my-first-snow.html

On the first evening there, we went out to the lagoon in front of the hotel and walked in the sand and waded in the water. This would be my first sight of the Atlantic Ocean.
Harper enjoyed herself so much in water that she fell and soaked her only pair of pants! Fortunately the lost luggage showed up the next day and everything was better.

By the third day of the trip, I was totally used to the sand. I discovered the joy of making sand castles . . . and stomping on them! Here I show mommy how to use a bucket and shovel. That shovel is really important to me. I carry it in the car all the time, even now. I even brought it to school this week to show my friends. I hear we have a sandy beach on the lake near our new Lakepointe house, but I am sure it won't be the same as the beach by the ocean!

Turtles!

One of my favorite places at Atlantis was the turtle pond. They have a pool full of sea turtles. When we went there, I was fascinated with these amazing creatures. When mommy and daddy tried to leave, I protested, "More turtles! More turtles!" They got the message. I brought Harper to the pool to show her, but she wasn't as impressed.

Atlantis!

Daddy is finally back from 2 weeks on the road. We now have LOTS of pictures from our wonderful trip to the Bahamas with Gran and Harper and the rest of the family. I will be posting blogs and pictures from our trip as often as possible for the next week

Then, you wil get an update on Lakepointe as construction moves into the final phase and a diary of daddy and my attempt to get a veggie garden going, like the Obama kids have at the White House.

For this first post, just some general interest shots of me and my family at the Atlanti resort. Much more coming in future posts.

Shopping for furniture

Sorry I haven't written in a while. We are getting ready for our big trip to Atlantis next week, so we've been really busy. But here are some photos of us shopping for furniture. I loved it! I kept running around the store trying out different chairs and sofas. I repeated every salesperson's name to their great amusement. I helped mommy and daddy choose a wonderful sectional couch for the new great room at Lakepointe.

Saturday we're going to see our friend Leesa in Davenport. She works at the furniture store that sells Stickley stuff. YAY!

Static electricity makes for a cool hairdoo!
