Provencal Picnic

Last night, Daddy suggested we have a picnic in the garden.  We have been working so hard on it, we deserved a day to rest and enjoy its beauty.  I was so pysched about the picnic idea, I wouldn't talk about anthing else all monring!

Here's some photos.

  • Round trip airfare to Paris for three, $1800
  • Second class TGV tickets Paris to Avignon for three, $240
  • Rental of a villa in Provence for a week, $1500
  • Having the best parts of a French vacation at home in Iowa, Priceless
PS- Our Apple trees peaked this weekend.  Here they are at their most amazing:

Tulip Mania!

Our tulips are blooming and they look spectacular!  We have tulips in pink, peach, and this wonderful fire yellow/red.  Daddy and I had a picnic in the garden with the doggies and took these photos.  The herb garden is coming along nicely- even the chervil survived the winter! Wow!  And we planted peas yesterday- if we can keep the deer from eating them.

I also had a popsicle at our picnic.  We were talking about them at school on this really hot day and it sounded so good!

Here's a picture from yesterday morning of me getting ready with mommy!

Hoppy Easter!

Hello everyone! It has been a couple weeks since we got back from California and it took daddy a while to get caught up. I guess he's still not caught up becuase he is helping me with this blog while taking a break from his writing in the basement. Whatever.

More importantly, Spring is here in Iowa! There are green shoots everywhere, leaf buds on the trees, and we've had a few days of 70+ temperatures. That's good, becuase all I want to wear is dresses and nice skirts. No pants!

Best of all, our daffodils are blooming! They look great! They are daddy's favorite flower, so he is enjoying every moment of it. Mommy's favorite flower, the tulip, is right around the corner. If our perfect Spring weather holds up for a couple weeks, we will have a perfect yield from out tulip garden and it will look SPECTACULAR!

Here's some pictures from Easter at Lake Pointe!

Here's a couple of views of the front of the house, including our best bed of daffodils

On the side of the house, we have more, next to the fairy's garden

The fairies live in those stones at the end of the path

See!  Here's the door to fairy's house!

Inside, the Easter Bunny brought me a really cool basket that I added to my Spring display in my room

Mommy and I are twins!   Cool jammies, huh?  Daddy made pancakes and we all ate them!

Here's the eggs I painted today.

After breakfast, we went out to the garden to pull up the "bad plants".  We are thrilled to report that the chives, oregano, sage, parsley, cilantro, leeks, lavender, and tarragon have all survived the winter and are growing back on their own.  The marjoram is in ICU right now, and the basil and rosemary are goners (but we didn't expect them anyeay)

These tulips will look spectacular!  We're on pace for a record tulip season, lets hope for no sudden cold snap

While daddy weeded, I blew bubbles.  Keep working, dad!
