Happy Birthday, Ada and Mike!

Happy Birthday to my biggest fan! I think it's really cool that you and Unca Mike have the same birthday. We have a lot of coincidences like that in this family. Dad shares a birthday with Grandad. Mom's birthday is the same as dad's nana (who I never got to meet). Uncle Daryl's birthday is the same as Dad-Dad. And, best of all, my birthday is the same as Gran's!

Anyway, here's some photos and a video of me playing with my tent-tunnel in the basement. Its more fun than a barrel full of monkeys!

Puppies!

Last weekend we went to Granmimi's farm to meet Marylin and Harvard's new puppies. They were only three weeks old, just starting solid foods, and their eyes had just opened. They are so soft and cuddly! I wasn't scared at all and I was happy to touch and cuddle with them. Avid followers of this blog may remember that when I met the basset litter last year I was a little intimiated. I am over that now! Daddy and mommy say that we can't get a new puppy right now. But I wouldn't mind having one of these- as along as they stay small. But I guess St Benard's don't stay small for long . . . .

Fun at the Iowa Children's Museum

When Daddy and I have some free time, we like to go to the Iowa Children's museum at the mall. The last time we went, I was very interested in the mock grocery store they have set up. I went through their "bakery" aisle, identifying the cookies and bread and pasteries. I could tell that they were plastic and not real and I didn't try to eat them.
Later, as we were playing in the physics room (still daddy's favorite), I suddenly stood up from the train set, grabbed something, and ran out the door. Daddy was very concerned about my lack of attention or discipline. He saw that I was headed back to the grocery exhibit. When he grabbed my hand to see what I was carrying, he immediately understood. I had found a rubber cookie in the train set and I was returning it to where it should be! Daddy followed me, amused and impressed by my dilligence for order. He gave me a big hug and kiss when I finished putting it back in the tray with the other rubber cookies.
Can we go home now and get a real cookie?

Reading to Skye

Every night, after bath and brushing teeth, I sit down to read books. A lot of books. I will usually wear out mommy and daddy before I am done reading. The other night daddy fell asleep mid-sentance. I had to turn around to pat him to wake him up to finish!

I found a book in my pile called "McDuff's New Friend". It is about a Westie like Skye that gets a special present from Santa. I was so impressed by the book that I wanted Skye to come over and read it with me. She was so sweet- she was happy to snuggle into the blanket between mommy and I.

Poise

I have great poise. I may be a little unsteady on my feet, but I am working very hard on it. I love to try to stand on my head and crawl through small spaces. I also love to bounce on mommy's exercise ball. Daddy is looking into gymnastic classes for me- I think I am a natural!

Some Random Photos

I haven't added a blog in a while and Gran just sent me some great photos, so I thought I would share them with you. This one is me sitting in our wine cellar reading one of daddy's books about Scotland. What a beautiful place- I hope I can go there someday!
There's not much new in Iowa- the weather is getting slightly warmer, but we still have lots of winter to go. They're painting the inside of the new house, but we won't see any big changes for aabout a month. Then, they'll get the floors in and start on the cabinets. I'lll post more photos then. Mommy and daddy had their department's winter parties this last week and Chelsie from school came over to take care of me. She is awesome! She can babysit anytime!
Also, Uncle Mike stayed with us for a few days when daddy went on a trip. He was so much fun I love having visitors!

Merry Christmas, Gran!

Thanks for the great sign, Gran! It will look great on our new barn / garag/ Owlery!
