Dancing Away the Winter

I had a wonderful winter adventure on Saturday.  After ballet class, daddy and I went to Lake McBride state park where his students were conducting a Wilderness Adventure Race in the snow.  Daddy pulled me around the course on my sled (thank you, Aunt Jenny!) and we sipped hot coco by a campfire.  It was awesome!  Afterwards, we drove to Petra's home at the Raptor Center.  The road was closed due to winter, so we hiked in (again me on my sled) to see the owls and hawks.  Petra was not at home, she often goes inside for the winter, but the other birds were there.  The bald eagle said hello to me and the barred owl clicked his beak when he saw me.

Before this amazing adventure of sliding through the woods, we had a great ballet class.  It was nice and warm in the studio, the music was joyous and uplifting, and I danced like Spring had arrived.  Here's some videos from class, including one with me dancing with daddy!

More Mammoth Photos

Here' a photo essay from my trip with daddy!

 This is Sophie's plane!

 I love flying!

I always travel "Sophie class"

Schat's bakery in Bishop- a road to Mammoth landmark!

My first real skis!  Courtesy of  Footloose on the corner of Main and Old Mammoth Rd

Grandad is still skiing and doing great!  He looks sharp!

Daddy hopes to ski just as long as Grandad!

I love ski school!

Boarding the "magic carpet" at ski school- what a great way to get to the top of the hill

To celebrate my first time skiing, we had a nice dinner at the Westin.  Here's daddy and I cuddling in the lobby!
All that skiing really wiped me out!

On the way out of town, we ate at the Breakfast Club, a great spot with local flavor.  Daddy and I still prefer the Stove, but this place is pretty good.

Thank you Grandad and Boppy for such a great trip!

On the way home we stopped at the Lone Pine movie museum and I posed with the little horse.

My First Time Really Skiing

Fans of the Wisdom of Spring know full well that my first time skiing was before I could walk*.  But that was a few feet in my back yard.  Here's the video you have all been waiting for- my first real time skiing!

A Good Use for Snow

Daddy and I left the blizzard behind and headed out to California for a ski trip to Iowa.  I got to ski for the first time!  YAY!

Here's some photos and more coming soon:

Here I am skiing from daddy to Grandad.  I got to attend ski school for two days and I am learning "the pizza stop" aka "the wedge"

After skiing, Boppy and I worked on art projects!

A still shot before the ski!

The ski school had a teepee set up for shelter.  We didn't need it- the weather was perfect!

I made a crown and bracelet from beads- I look like a flower child!  Here I am playing with the globe in our condo

After dinner at the Westin on Saturday night, daddy and I collapsed into the couch in the lobby.

When daddy was out skiing, he met the Mammoth mascot, Woolly, at the top of chair 3

Snowmageddon!

Wow, what a blizzard!

As I slept peacefully, mommy drove through tall drifts, bouncing along the street.  Daddy worked in the ER, managing the few patients and trying to get his doctors and nurses home safely.

We had 14 inches in about 12 hours, so it all piled up pretty fast.  We had drifts in the driveway up to daddy's waist (almost over mu head!).  Obviously, I had the day off from school.  Here's a few photos from Gramie's house and a short video:

Me and Camryn enjoying the snow day

Can't open the porch!

Grammie's back yard- we could see the grass yesterday!
