My new favorite book is "The Snowman" by Raymond Briggs. Without words, it tells the very touching story about a boy who makes a snowman that comes to life for one brief, magical night. It's the first book I ask daddy to read in the morning and I have mommy give me the pocket version for me to take into my crib every night. Here a website dedicated to the book:
So that's why I was so excited when daddy helped me make my very own snowman in our front yard. He's a little short (I say he's "sits"), but I like him anyway. We scrounged in the garage for old throw-away items for him to wear. Like Mommy's gardening gloves, a Santa hat from christmas, and Denali's old Hawkeye jersey (I say "football"). His eyes are crab apples and his nose is a Christmas decorative lightbulb!

Soph! I love that book too! Your snowman is very cute-it is really nice you dressed him up and everything. Miss you!

Sophie, I am so glad to see a new blog entry before I leave tomorrow for Tanzania. The snowman is very cute- he has the charming and slightly worn characteristics I think of as those of a snow person./We have lots of snow here in PA but it has been to light in quality to stick together so we have not been able to create a snow person.
I hope to see some of your owls on this safari trip and look forward to seeing you in a few weeks. All my love, Gran
I am not surprised that you love "The Snowman" it is a magical story about the magic of snow and how children can see things that grown-ups sometime miss. It is so nice that your Mommy and Daddy remember how special a snowfall can be and how we create special friends from millions of snowflakes that we shape into snow friends. I really like your snow friend- tell him that Ada says hi!
