Yesterday mommy and daddy and I went to the local Optimist club christmas tree lot and picked out the perfect little tree. I didn't spend too much time doing it- it was really cold with a bitter west wind. But we got the little (Sophie-sized) tree home safe and set it up in the living room. I'll write more about it when we get a chance to decorate.
I am just so excited that I actually have a real live tree inside my house! I love trees so much- I am always calmed by their towering presence. Now I can get to touch and see a tree without going out into the cold. And best of all, green is back! Not the boring brown that dominates what remains of my forest these days. I suppose this is why our ancestors started the tradition of bringing green into the home in the winter- good plan!

I am so excited my favorite thing in the world is a Christmas tree and I could not wait until my little tree hugger got her first Christmas tree - what is better than a tree in your house! We must celebrate the event with a song:
Version #2
O Christmas Tree,
O Christmas Tree,
How steadfast are
your branches!
Your boughs are green
in summer's clime
And through the snows
of wintertime.
O Christmas Tree,
O Christmas Tree,
How steadfast are
your branches!
O Christmas Tree,
O Christmas Tree,
What happiness befalls me
When oft at
joyous Christmas-time
Your form inspires
my song and rhyme.
O Christmas Tree,
O Christmas Tree,
What happiness befalls me
O Christmas Tree,
O Christmas Tree,
Your boughs can
teach a lesson
That constant faith
and hope sublime
Lend strength and
comfort through all time.
O Christmas Tree,
O Christmas Tree,
Your boughs can
teach a lesson
German Lyrics:
O Tannenbaum, O Tannenbaum
Wie treu sind deine Blätter
O Tannenbaum, O Tannenbaum
Wie treu sind deine Blätter
Du grünst nicht nur zur Sommerzeit
Nein auch im Winter wenn es schneit
O Tannenbaum, O Tannenbaum
Wie treu sind deine Blätter
I am sure that your daddy can add some wonderful Christmas songs to your play list.
I Love You!
Your first tree is wonderful. Bringing green into the home has an ancient history- druids, pagans and many other groups who love and worship nature have brought greenery into their homes to help them feel happy. Love, Gran
