Sand!

My trip to Atlantis was the first time I got to touch sand. Sure, I have seen the Pacific Ocean before, but we never went down to the beach. Now that I can walk and express myself more clearly, I was really amazed by the sensation of the granules tickling and massaging my feet. It was really cool how I sink into the soft warm sand- very comforting. Here are some important sandy moments from the Bahamas.
This is it! The very moment I touched sand for the first time. In terms of milestones, it ranks right up there with the first moment I saw snow: http://sophiehouse.blogspot.com/2007/11/my-first-snow.html

On the first evening there, we went out to the lagoon in front of the hotel and walked in the sand and waded in the water. This would be my first sight of the Atlantic Ocean.
Harper enjoyed herself so much in water that she fell and soaked her only pair of pants! Fortunately the lost luggage showed up the next day and everything was better.

By the third day of the trip, I was totally used to the sand. I discovered the joy of making sand castles . . . and stomping on them! Here I show mommy how to use a bucket and shovel. That shovel is really important to me. I carry it in the car all the time, even now. I even brought it to school this week to show my friends. I hear we have a sandy beach on the lake near our new Lakepointe house, but I am sure it won't be the same as the beach by the ocean!

What fun to make sand castles and then to have the power to destroy them! I remember going to Newport Beach and I would watch your daddy play in the sand- he loved it!
You and your mommy look like you are having a great time.
